In the company policy of Asarel-Medet JSC, sustainable development is considered as a unity and balance of three pillars - economic efficiency, environmental care and social responsibility. They are reflected in our ESG practices inspired by the European standards for sustainability reporting and our work processes according to the international standards for quality management, environmental protection, occupational health and safety and energy efficiency: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
As representatives of a transparent and responsible Bulgarian business, we are strongly committed to the principles and goals of the UN Global Compact. We are developing seven corporate programs for sustainable development: Quality, Productivity, Price Cost, Development of the Mineral and Raw Material Inventory, Energy Efficiency, Improvement of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Protection, Human Resources Development and Corporate Development. In order to ensure the sustainable development of the deposit and the opportunities for processing poor copper ores, our investments in these programs in the 21st century are over 1 billion USD. We look forward to the technologies of the future in mining through our participation in international research projects and perceive digital transformation as an opportunity for increasingly precise process management, high efficiency in resource management, decarbonization and environmental protection. International analyses show that each job in the mining industry creates at least 4 new jobs along the value chain, which we perceive as an aspect of our social contribution.
